I bought this book as a newbie to Asterisk and VoIP in general. I consider myself a pretty good system admin and software developer. I purchased a Digium D40 phone, an ATA (SPA-3000) and this book. My goal was and still is to improve then telecommunications for my small home/business.I have a love/hate relationship with this book - it's good, but it could be so much better. Many times I read example code and think, "oh, that looks like a nice function or feature", I want to know more about it, so I head to the Index to find absolutely nothing about it. The index just sucks. Yes it has one, but you'll be scouring the table of contents and every single page in a chapter looking to implement the feature you want... and you can't skip ahead to a cheat sheet or reference because this isn't much of a reference book.For example; I wanted to route incoming calls by caller-id. Simple stuff like, phone calls from my Mother are allowed 24/7 but other callers will be routed to an automated voice attendant. The book's Index has a single reference to caller id, which I then follow to find a one page description explain what caller id is, but not how it relates to Asterisk - that is just stupid! However, when I browse through the book, I sometimes find really interesting code examples dealing with caller-id, but nothing cohesive, just random throw-away comments and allusions to it. It's like the author is teasing me that Asterisk has this really cool feature, but you'll have to use Google to learn about it. Caller-ID is just one example. I'm pleased I bought this book and have gained a lot from it, but it could be so much more. This book didn't help me connect my ATA to Asterisk. I recommend buying it.

I bought and read the previous version (Asterisk 1.8), and this one is updated to version 11. Good updates; a lot of content is from the previous book (as you might imagine), but it's well written, easy to understand, and encourages "hands-on" exercises. Since Asterisk is an open-source package, it's freely and easily available. It makes for a great "My First PBX" and introduction to telecom. Of course there's lots of other "deep learning" (like SIP) that might suck you in for a while ;-) A SIP hardphone was very useful to me during setup, and for following the examples. Overall, it is THE introduction to Asterisk. Lots of help is available via the web.

More for the professional than for the home hobbyist trying to defeat junk phone calls. If you are going to be dealing with multiple lines in and out with different protocols you probably need this book. It seems no cover a large spectrum of methods and devices, but has no examples of simple setups appropriate for single line households.

Very in depth book.As it says, it is the Definitive Guide and covers commands, syntax etc Not really a book to read from cover to cover. I use it as more of a reference type book when I'm lost or need something specific.

Clearly written - lots of useful info to actually be a "definitive guide" instead of just a bunch of facts like other guides. Usually Oreilly stuff is good, but this is great. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a complete picture of what's going on with Asterisk

Good read. Wish it had more information about ami but i guess i need a seperate book for that.... nonetheless this is a good read. Prior to reading this i could only use the packaged asterisk distros such as freepbx and elastix etc. Not i can configure my own built from scratch and its so much easier. The packaged distros are quick to start out with but will stat lacking a short amt of time after using it. The native asterisk takes a longer time to setup but makes every imigination possible

I thought this is v5. But it is v4, on ast 11. Not very useful now for ast 13 or 16. And I don't know how to return it.

Sport is one of the great institutions of civilization, and the rapid expansion of women’s sport during the past half century has been one of the most dramatic and visible recent developments within that institution. You Must Play to Win! is a personal reflection on the hugely successful coaching career of Donna J. Newberry — longtime coach, teacher, and administrator in the Athletics Department of Muskingum University, New Concord, Ohio — whose passionate commitment to both excellence and gender equality in sport helped to make possible, and epitomizes, the significant expansion of women’s collegiate athletics in the United States since the early 1970s.In the Fall of 1974, twenty-three-year-old Donna Newberry, fresh out of graduate school with a Master’s Degree in Physical Education, began her career at Muskingum. At the outset, she faced inadequate institutional funding, overwhelming teaching and coaching responsibilities, poor facilities within a weakly developed women’s athletic program, and an athletics budget that was controlled by the men’s sports program. Thirty-six years later, the women’s athletics program at Muskingum had changed dramatically, due in great part to Newberry’s perseverance and standards — and her coaching accomplishments and advocacy of women’s sport had assumed legendary status of state, regional, and national significance.Donna Newberry passed away on November 10, 2010, a victim of breast cancer. In the Spring of 2010, knowing that she had but a short time to live, she committed her remaining days to writing this book, hoping and believing that her coaching philosophy and record of defining facets of her career might be of value — especially to young coaches and those aspiring to become coaches. Inspiring story! Coached against Coach Newberrys teams always well coached.

Thought this was the most emotion provoking, inspiring book! I had the pleasure of knowing this coach very personally as she was my aunt. There was and never will be another soul like her. She not only taught sports, but she taught life lessons to her players. She was an EXTREMELY humble individual, but very very wise. She was an EXPERT coach and brilliant teacher. Cancer took her life too soon. Even though I knew and loved her, I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a good read and a great life lesson. Coaches of any sport will be better for having read this book.

This is THE primer for New Thought. I have read my copy at least a dozen times, and find new nuggets each time. If you are seeing "follow the white rabbit" on your screen, this book could change your life.

Ernest Holmes' Creative Mind and Success is a little gem of a book. Not only will reading and re-reading it give you the good stuff for your mind that'll help propel you to success -- but the book proves you don't have to write a ton of verbiage to be profound. And you, as a consumer, can save thousands of dollars in motivational training by just reading THIS small book. Holme's main point is that "your thought decides whether your business shall be a success or a failure." Why? Because "Life is from within outward and never from without inward." Our thoughts DO influence what we become and how we fare. Holme's wrote this book in 1919 and wrote the foward to its reprinting in 1957 -- and it is as good as ever. And...no...I'm not a card-carrying member of his church (with a name like "Gandelman" -- guess!). But I've learned (the HARD WAY) that the motivational speakers and motivational/spiritual writers are CORRECT: how we view things, what we verbally and mentally affirm and what and how we pray (affirmation is actually a form of prayer so if you don't like to pray and you do affirmations, you're basically doing it) DOES HAVE AN IMPACT. If I don't do it and go into a downward spiral, I STAY in it. If I break it and do affirmations or Holme's version of prayer mixed with affirmation (affirmative prayer) I get out of it and steadily advance. Why do I suggest you get and read, re-read and TRAVEL WITH this book? A few reasons:1. It's only 84 pages long.2. He clearly provided the foundation for the views of many motivational, self-help folks who would follow. I see a lot of Napolean Hill's philosophy (they most likely arrived at the same conclusions independently) in it. And even Norman Vincent Peale whose widely used quote is on the dust cover: "I believe God was in this man, Ernest Holmes. He was in tune with the Infinite."3. He CONSTANTLY tells readers to ignore the naysayers who tell you you are a failure. Ignore the prophets of doom and gloom who, in your darkest moments, will tell you that you are destined to flop.4. He gives you a very specific explanation as to why you must IGNORE the negative voices and view yourself as a success and your goals as doable. As he puts it, yes, there is a cause and effect but "In your life you are that cause." Think failure and poverty...that's what you'll get. If, despite where you are now, you think success and plenty, you'll find yourself headed in that direction. "Whatever we think is the pattern and mind is the builder," he writes. "....Know that no matter what others may say, think or do, you are a success, now, and nothing can hinder you from accomplishing your good."5. Whether you want to use a self-help framework or religious framework this profound little book (you will NOT feel cheated; there is no padding!) gives you the CONFIDENCE and HOPE to jump out of bed every day and get down to it...and listen to YOUR OWN encouragement and blot out the negative voices that may surround you and dishearten you. When things may not look great, you can read it and get your thinking back on track. If people say you're destined to fail, Holmes is there to tell you you will NOT and give you a specific framework to tell you why you won't if you don't think you won't. NOTE: I not only read this but I underlined it. Now I'm re-reading my underlinings. Then I'll re-read it again..and I travel with this jewel of a book, keeping it in my carry-on luggage or my overnight bag.

This is one of the first books I read about the mind, I have read other's by this man and they really got me started on other books that have really helped me, I wish I could have been at one of his meetings but of course I wasn't around him back in those days, however, I feel like I was there when I read his books, wish we had more men and women like him. He did start me reading more and more and it is making my life a lot better. I had never heard of this man until the last few years, if I had I am sure my life would have started changing much sooner.

There have been dozens of books telling you that your thoughts create your reality and how to use that to your advantage. This is one of the original such books. The major difference is that because Holmes was inspired as one of the original channels through which this very important information came through, I could fell that his words in this book were highly charged with transformational spiritual energy. I'm not talking of some New Age foo-foo idea. And I'm not talking about religiosity (religion, the bureacracy between God and man!). I'm talking about grounded, very real direct spiritual power. What he offers in this book is the real deal. I have known of this stuff for years. And yet when I read this book, I intentionally approached it with "beginner's mind" as if I've never heard of this stuff before. And as good as my life already was going into this book, applying what Holmes writes has boosted my life to a new level of inner fullness. Buy it, read it, apply it every moment and this will transform your life.

The content is great, the core teachings of Science of Mind without all the extra words. And, sadly, the font size is uncomfortably small. I won't bother returning it because I only paid $2.45; however, I will likely look for another version with a larger font size.

Without a doubt Ernest Holmes writes of his strong belief in the Universal Subconscious Mind, and how we are all part of it, and it there for us to use. He weaves his references to God in parallel to this force, and suggests that they are one and the same. I have always agreed with this. For those skeptical of any religious reference, this is a great book to set your mind on a path that will set you free without the confines of doctrine. Enjoy. Be open. Above all else have faith and accept that you are never alone. Great reading for your experimental life.

This book and the previous one, Creative Mind, are the first books Dr. Holmes published in 1919 that are the precursor seminal works leading to Dr. Holmes' ground breaking publication, the 1926 version of the Science of Mind and Spirit Textbook.To get a glimpse at the beginning of the Religious Science movement, these two books are a good start, and if you want more information about Science of Mind and Spirit, check for the 1926 Science of Mind and Spirit book on Amazon.Rev. This beginner's method book, while providing fun activities and appropriately levelled songs, contains numerous errors, typos, and even pictures of the wrong instrument! This is a ukulele book and my students love pointing out the pictures of guitars that the editor somehow missed. Some words are in bold that shouldn't be, some chords are wrong. Easy enough for me to make the adjustments as I go along and point them out to my students, but a new edition should definitely come out with some editing.

Great book for kids. Only teaches C,F,G7,Am chords but the songs are good and the instruction is great. My 7 year old daughter has read the whole book, pretty much taught herself chords from it, and loves playing the songs.

This is a well made product and is standing up nicely to my 4 year old and even when it gets into the hands of my 1 year old. It is so fun hearing my son play songs and sing. It is a good fit for him and easy to use and hold.

I bought this for my 6 year old daughter who is just learning the okay the uke. It is simple and easy for both my daughter and me to understand. Great beginner book.

This book is no substitute for a teacher or class. My six year-old wasn't getting anywhere with this book, so we started her with a private instructor. Maybe older kids would have better luck.

This is a fun easy book to learn the ukulele with. When it comes to learning up and down strokes and singing along while you play it couldn’t get any easier than the way this book teaches it. I have bought three books so far so yes I would recommend it to any beginner. Got to start somewhere

A fine presentation of playing the ukulele for kids and for Me. Both my granddaughter and I enjoy it and refer back to it again and again. Love the songs!

This book is definitely for kids lol if I could have seen the songs in it before I bought it I wouldn't have.
