I would give the beginning 3 stars and the ending 4. I wish Amazon allowed 1/2 STARS. I am being generous saying I didn't feel a connection until 1/2 through the book. There was no romance until the 3/4 mark. The lovemaking finally had passion near the end. It is mildly descriptive, but not vulgar or erotic.Our h had a horrible childhood, and was under no delusion she was something more than she was. She was smart and developed her skills in order to survive. Our H is part of the brethren, brotherhood of pirates. It was nice to have character's from previous books make an appearance. I am torn to say it is a stand alone, I suppose it could be because the author does fill us in on the back ground of the character's.There is some action near the end, so don't expect this to be about pirates fighting on the high sea. The small interaction at the end was somewhat anticlimactic as far as pirate fight scenes go.We are treated to HEA, no cliffhanger and a small amount of romance near the end when I finally felt like they were a couple. I am not going into the blurb as the publisher explains it better than I could. (ljb)

She has nothing and survives by her wits, often stealing to eat, and usually running from the law.Alesia needs to get out of Edinburgh quickly to escape “the noose†and she hears that Thor is looking for someone, although she doesn’t know why, just that he’s offering silver as a reward for locating that person. Alesia figures she can get that silver for herself, and escape capture. So she convinces him that she is his quarry. But that’s where the problems begin!The story is filled with action, laughs, colorful characters and plenty of heat. I read the book in one sitting as I just couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend this book to readers of romance who enjoy action packed, swashbuckling sexy pirates with a HEA that leaves you with a smile- and looking forward to the next story!

You can’t help but fall in love with the characters since their multifaceted personalities reveal not only what they present as their public facade to their friends and acquaintances, but their own very personal vulnerabilities they try so hard to keep hidden from others. Book 3 is just as magnificent as the others in this series. If you love Hunky pirates, sassy women, humor, and nonstop action, you should really enjoy The Sea Devil as an exciting part of these epic pirate adventures on the High Seas.
This is one of the best pirate series out there - and Thor finally has his own novel - yay!!! Our hero suffered a devastating loss in his childhood, and revenge became his constant companion. Alesia, a poor wharf rat, had a hard life and awful circumstances. She tries to better her future when she meets up with Thor. She's the most feisty and fearless heroine I have ever read about. Thor met his match when they crossed paths, as they were just meant to be with each other; this is a hero and heroine you cannot forget. The writing was flawless, the plot superb, and the ending was just beautiful. I have very few re-read novels, and this story is included in my top 5; it is that good! If Ms. Knight wrote more adventures about this couple, I would definitely purchase them.
