With almost 600 superb annotated radiographs and more than 120 line diagrams, the book combines the best features of a high quality atlas and those of a detailed text book. The normal radiographic anatomy of immature and mature horses is presented, with normal variations, incidental findings and details of significant abnormalities. Remarks on clinical prognosis and treatment are also included. The emphasis throughout is on practical tips, common pitfalls, and the techniques used to obtain the best radiographs of specific areas and conditions. Changes for the third edition: Significantly enlarged to include a chapter on digital radiography. Includes descriptions of several new radiographic projections. Many of the images have been replaced by digital images, and there are also many new illustrations. Expanded information on processing and image quality. Updated to include new information, knowledge gained from continued clinical experience and the most relevant references from recent literature. CD included with the book presenting all the radiographic images in electronic format. There have been major advances in other imaging techniques, including scintigraphy, ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging since the second edition. The latest edition of this text is a welcome addition to my reference library. I purchased the Kindle version so it is easily accessible for viewing digital radiographs in the field. I primarily use it on my iPad. The only cons to this edition which seem common to many kindle books are the illustrations are not well marked. It is sometimes difficult to differentiate the chapter text from the captions on the illustrations/figures.
Product came on arrival date in the condition that was described. Definitely a good text for the purposes intended and for the price is well worth it.
Fantastic book just what I was after! Have lent it to a friend might be lucky to get it back.
I purchased this book after using it as a reference during externships and I use it OFTEN. This book tells you how to take views, why you would take them, and gives you diagrams that label normal. It covers pathophysiology and predisposition to pathologies. There are great images in this book of pathology as well as normal. It is a really well put together book and though it is expensive it is worth it to me as I reference this book almost daily when reviewing radiographs during my fourth year in school.
