As a rookie high school jumps coach I picked this book up 6 years ago when it was published. Nick clearly outlines how to evaluate and assess athletes and provides clear direction on how to develop each athlete to their fullest potential. His example workout programs, assessment tests and drill inventories allow the individual or coach to develop short, mid and long term workout programs geared to developing exceptionally competitive athletes.In my 6 years of coaching, following Nick’s approach, my athletes have won 8 state titles and many more top 10 finishes. Many have gone on to compete at the NCAA level. Other coaches often want to know where we find these incredible athletes - in reality there are a lot of untapped athletes in every program. This book provides the training guidelines and teaching approach that allows all jumpers to really fly.

I thought I would take a moment and write this review from an athlete’s perspective. I am now a Master’s-level track and field athlete but have been competing and training at a very high-level (in multiple sports) for the last three decades.I purchased the book and read it cover to cover in the first 10 days. Since that time, I have constantly went back, section after section, to have many, many questions answered. Not only is Nick an outstanding and talented writer, but this book presents somewhat technical information in an easy-to-read format for both athletes and coaches. Nick’s deep understanding of what’s required to become an elite jumper is just astounding. I reached out to the author a few months after purchasing and he’s been absolutely great.Bottom line — I cannot recommend this book enough.

Highly recommend this book for anyone who coaches, competes in, enjoys or wants a more thorough understanding of the horizontal jumps. This book is thorough, easy to follow, has so much information that is vital for an athlete or coach to progress in the horizontal jumps. The author has clearly done his homework and has a vast understanding of the subject matter. This book is helpful and has given me so much more information. I now know what I'm doing wrong and what I'm doing right and know how to help my athletes progress. I cannot recommend this book enough! The author backs up all of his theories, information, drills, everything with science. Thank you for a great and helpful read!

You can tell the passion the author has for his craft and the time and effort he put into creating this masterpiece for all of us coaches! This will help us train the future state, regional, national, and hopefully world and Olympic champions someday!

I am a Division 1 long and triple jumper and this is the best book that I have come across. It is a great resource for any coaches or athletes to add to their collection. This is a must have book for jumpers it is by far the best horizontal jumps book out there for sample workouts and drills.

Good book

Just what I expected....Great

My husband and I are both elementary classroom teachers. This was a great read and a useful tool. We found the level categorization model very interesting as well as the many assessment tools to help you categorize behaviors. We were familiar with some of the motivational interventions, but some of the others were great new ideas to try in the classroom. Would be an effective book study for teachers.

This is a great book as an introduction to learning how to help and the reasons for helping. I role played several scenarios on what would a helpful person do after I read the story to the class.

These "WATCH OUT" books are wonderful teaching books for children. My girls are 7 and 11 years old. Illustrations shows both positive and negative points on the subject. I highly recommend them as gifts for anyone you care about.

While it is important to explain to children why they should share, this book is far too preachy. Reading should be fun. This book is a lecture.Did no one edit or proofread this book?Characters are randomly introduced late in the book. Under the words "Christmas Party" is an illustration of a Halloween costume party - not a pine tree or candy cane in sight.I really expected better from Scholastic. Kids deserve high quality, high fun books. These are not it.

It is perfect for our kindergarten reading series' week long theme: How can I help around the house? It is short enough and engaging. It can be used a springboard to discuss chores and responsibility.

Throughout the 100 days, he remains the flawed, human being he has always been (that we all are), but little by little, he lets go of his Self and channels his remaining time and energy - and all his love - onto the people he holds most dear. Thoroughly believable, Brizzi injects one man's ordinary life with bittersweet awareness of the ultimate loss and in the process, gives the reader permission to ponder the big question of their own mortality.

I have terminal cancer, though I hope to have lots more than 100 days. When I saw the title of this book I was attracted to it because I already decided that I am spending every day I still have totally happy. The book turned out to be very different from what I expected, but with its Italian humor and charm it was a wonderful read for me. I would not only recommend this book to terminal cancer patients but everyone who wants to get an idea what we go through.

This is a touching, very human story of a fatal illness. It doesn't pull any punches, but shows how one man decides to make his final days his best. There are plenty of times when you'll smile and laugh and times when you'll feel really sad. I highly recommend it. It's a unique tale.

The story let's you look at a regular life through the eyes of someone having to let go and leave behind all the people he loved. It's simple and beautiful.

Enjoyed a very unique prospective of the journey to the end. Upbeat at times and reality checks other times. I found this very interesting having been a caregiver for a loved one.

I'm toying with the notion that 2 stars is too harsh. But the bottom line is that I was a little disappointed. Is too much to expect an intimate treatise on the clouded, recondite splendors of a newly encountered land? I sought a guide through the underground, a regional map to hidden gems. Instead, this book provided suggestions that a simple Google search would yield. Perhaps this was published before the ubiquity of 4G & wi-fi, and the thought was that it would benefit people 'on-the-go', who couldn't remember the name of that taxingly trite restaurant they wanted to visit without the aid of a reference book.In the era of Yelp, one doesn't need a book to discover these sort of things-- one needs a local account in order to get past them, to cross into the Land of the Local as though breaking through a Red Rover chain. You need a likeminded vanguard with a thirst for adventure to answer the superficially tame question, "So, what do you guys do for fun around here?"Maybe the answer is, "Nothing. We're in BFE." In which case, the author did his damnedest to catalog it, working miracles to fill the bounty of pages with fairly detailed content. Perhaps he could have warned us in the prologue, "Have you asked yourself WHY you want to travel to the Northwest?" or in the epilogue, "Yes, really, that's all there is," as a sort of prank. But he didn't, and so now we (I) wonder if this really is his, or even most people's, idea of a good time.I should have known better - it didn't market itself as a specialty book. It was just one of the few I could find for that specific region. And there was a picture of the Space Needle on the cover as my first clue (though the publisher could well have made that call--"For the sake of propriety, we MUST include a famed though dull landmark of the region. Otherwise, we might as well be anywhere.") Well, for all practical purposes, it seems that you truly might as well be anywhere, if this shameless homogeneity is all the region has to offer. Why not just go to the U.S. Midwest and be swallowed alive by the flat vastness of Dakotas? ;-(

I tore through the last book in the Haunting of Sunshine Girl series. This was a terrific ending to the trilogy. It had everything I could have wanted and more--ghosts, demons, prophesies, sacrifice, love, betrayal.Cool twists and turns, developing relationships between Sunshine and her bio parents, a deepening of Sunshine and Nolan's relationship. A school dance and of course a super big baddie that threatens Sunshine and everyone and everything she loves. Seriously, this book rocked.I kept saying one more chapter for an hour. ;) Fantastic work, Ms. McKenzie!I loved every minute with Sunshine and I'm sad to say goodbye to her!Oh and the ending--it was epically satisfying.

Not as interesting as the 1st two books. This one seemed to drag on and on. It became boring to me. The other two books I read within 24 hours because they were fast paced and interesting. This... I forced myself to finish.

If you are a fan of the series this book will not disappoint. It is somewhat predictable, but still interesting.

Me and my daughter love this book and the other 2 as well. Didn't take my daughter long to read all 3 books just because the story get so intense sometimes.

I enjoyed the book so much that I couldn’t put it down!! I cannot wait for the next one! I have so many questions.... I don’t believe she lost her powers after she had so much experience with the other realm. So, I will be waiting for the next story.

My daughter loves it, as far as I know she has all the books within the series. If not I'll be back (TERMINATOR VOICE).
